Test facility

The Bremen Ballast Water Treatment Project provides a test facility for ballast water treatment systems. From August 2004 onwards shore-side tests can be undertaken to assess the efficacy of ballast water treatment systems.

The test facility includes various holding tanks with capacities up to 300 t. Larger holding tanks are similar in design to onboard ballast water tanks.

In addition to native plankton species at the test site, we can also provide laboratory reared test organisms in sufficient densities.
